AREAS OF INTEREST
Cathy’s consultancy work encompasses leadership development, strategy and organizational development and delivery of sustainable change, coaching and personal development, within both health organizations and in local authorities. Cathy enjoys the challenge of working with groups of people from a range of different backgrounds, both professional and non professional.
RECENT CAREER HISTORY
Cathy joined Dearden early in 2008, as a senior consultant. Prior to that Cathy worked as a Chief Executive of a Primary Care Trust for seven years. Her NHS background spans a period of 28 years, including both clinical (nursing) and managerial/leadership roles in a variety of settings. Cathy has two Masters degrees, a teaching qualification, is an MBTI practitioner and a qualified coach, as well as having nursing, midwifery and health visiting qualifications.
Cathy has also spent some time working in the USA as a nurse and undertook an expedition to Alaska and the Yukon. Throughout her career, Cathy has also had the opportunity to look at other health care systems in both New Zealand and the USA, and to bring back some of the learning and put it into practice in the UK.
CONSULTANCY EXPERIENCE
· Led a major transformational change programme within Children and Young People’s service in large Local Authority
· Worked on an interim basis as National Director bringing together two separate teams under the umbrella of NHS Diabetes and Kidney Care – focusing on team development and making a ‘fit for purpose’ virtual organisation
· Coaching a range of managers/leaders particularly during periods of transition
· Leadership development programme for Divisional Boards within an NHS organisation
· Developing business plans and business planning for PCT public health directorate
· Various development plans for public health teams
· Development of Cancer Inequalities Strategies (ongoing) for Cancer Network(s)
· Assessing of individuals against bespoke competency frameworks
· Working with NEDs on development programme |
